ENDANGERED ANIMAL PROJECT:
THE SIKA DEER

project overview
TIME SPAN: 4 weeks

Our class each selected an endangered animal, and I selected the sika deer. This project was intended to highlight the public awareness potential of graphic design (and design in general), and how our individual design processes and the research going into any project shapes the designer. Though the project may seem silly, looking back I believe this was the moment that really highlighted how two-way design can be. We cannot change our environment without it also changing us in some shape or form in turn.

The project first entailed creating a poster graphic with a limited palette of six colors, then using the same color palette to create a short animation featuring the animal in motion. Adobe Illustrator was the assigned tool for both steps, and the animation was made with a free online GIF maker.

Selected quick sketch thumbnails for early poster compositions. All created using the Procreate app.
